Dr. Reichler's Spring 2006 Bio 311C homework #2

We saw this video in class.  (http://aimediaserver.com/studiodaily/videoplayer/?src=harvard/harvard.swf&width=640&height=520)  There are 35 edits in this video.  I want you to identify 4 cellular processes pictured in this video.  Each process that you correctly identify will be worth 2 points for a maximum of 8 points.  For proper credit you must identify one process, four components involved in that process, and a brief explanation of how the components are involved in the process shown in each scene of the video.  If you use any outside sources to help answer this question be certain to cite them.  Using outside sources is fine, but not citing those sources is plagiarism.  The format of you assignment should be:

(This is an example using the first and last edit.  You cannot use this edit)
Edit # 1  (or #35 (the number should indicate where in the video this scene occurs))
Process:  blood flow
Four components:  Red blood cells, epithelial cells, blood plasma, and lymphocytes
Explanation:  The blood is pumped by the heart, and the epithelial cells that surround the blood vessel keep the blood pressure from bursting the blood vessel.  Carried in the blood are red blood cells that transport oxygen through our bodies.  The red blood cells are carried in the blood plasma that is mostly water.  Lymphocytes are present to help fight infections.

This assignment should not exceed 400 words.  Please print your paper and turn it in by the start of class 1pm on December 6, 2006.  This homework will be graded on a scale of 0-8 points.  I will subtract 1 point for each day late.
