Metabolic dimension

This plot shows the result of a PCoA only for Metabolic dimension on the first three axes. Arrows indicate variables used for the ordination. To see variable loadings click here

Notice the separation in two main groups, related to diel activity.

Diurnal species occupy a wide range of thermal conditions, and show a range of thermorregulatory strategies, while nocturnal species are mainly thermoconformers. A few species (Delma butleri, Xantusia vigilis, and Lialis burtonis) show both diurnal and nocturnal activity —or are crepuscular— and are located in an intermediate position between the two main groups.
